1. Garlic
One of the unique health properties contained in garlic is the sulfur compound known as ALLICIN, which has anti-cancer properties. Research has shown that frequent intake of diet with garlic reduce the risk of developing colorectal, pancreatic, breast, throat and prostate cancers.

2. Onions
Allyl disulphide and allium, two phytochemicals found in the onion convert to allicin when the bulb is cut, crushed or chopped. Allicin has anti-diabetic and anti-mutagenic properties, which is good to prevent diabetes and cancer respectively.

3. Cayenne Peppers
A research report in 2006 has shown that capsaicin contained in cayenne peppers help fight prostate cancer cells in mice. Meanwhile, scientific studies done by researchers at Loma Linda University have indicated that capsaicin is also useful in lung cancer prevention among smokers.

4. Turmeric
Turmeric showed positive health effects in cancer fighting, according to researchers. The spice is believed to help eliminate cancerous cell by inducing a process known as apoptosis. However, more studies still need to be done before the merit can be verified. Curcumin found in turmeric is a powerful antioxidant, which gets rid of harmful free radicals in the body, thereby lowering the risk of developing cancer.

5. Cinnamon
In a report published by scientists by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the spice lowered the spreading of lymphoma and leukemia cancer cells. In this case, the researchers used three types of human cancer cells: two representing leukemia and one representing lymphoma.
The results were striking: over a 24-hour period (the time required for one doubling of the cell population), the cinnamon extract dramatically reduced the rate of proliferation in all three types of cancer cells.
